Tkankę wystawy indywidualnej współtworzą reminiscencje przestrzeni, które – jak podkreśla Bogusław Deptuła zostały „zarejestrowane przez Dominika Włodarka, grafika o wielkiej sile skupienia i wykonawczej perfekcji. Tym wyróżniają się jego wielkoformatowe grafiki, wykonane w technice wklęsłodruku i suchej igły. Dopracowane i wizyjne, panoramiczne i detaliczne – zarazem, łączą w sobie przeciwieństwa i scalają się w sugestywną wizję „stoczniowości”. Warto zauważyć format grafik: monumentalny i wizyjny; wypełnia przestrzeń i przykuwa, zdaje się być ekspozycyjnie doskonały. Zarazem ten ich znaczny rozmiar świadczy o wykonawczej trudności, którą należy pokonać przy tworzeniu; więc autor nie idzie na skróty pracując…” (Bogusław Deptuła, w: III Triennale Sztuki Pomorskiej, Sopot 2019).
„Déjà Vu / Bon Voyage. Grafika 2002-2022” to retrospektywna wystawa sztuki Dominika Włodarka, obejmująca swoim zakresem prace od początków jego drogi twórczej do chwili obecnej. Obok wielkoformatowych, niemal architektonicznych grafik łączących różnorodne techniki (m.in, karborund, suchą igłę, grawerowanie), filmów i obiektu przestrzennego znajdują się na niej pejzaże graficzne, wykonane w technikach wklęsłodruku, przedstawiające miejsca, w które przez te dwadzieścia lat prowadziła autora jego pasja do tworzenia grafiki artystycznej.
Pierwsze z prezentowanych na wystawie prac graficznych powstały w Łodzi. Kolejne w Helsinkach w Finlandii, gdzie artysta mieszkał i pracował przez osiem lat. Właśnie tam ma swoją genezę jego koncepcja tworzenia wielkoformatowych odbitek graficznych zainspirowanych pejzażem miejskim oraz ideą sztuki miejsca (site-specific art).
Kilka prac znajdujących się na wystawie ukazuje autorską interpretację widoków Paryża, Londynu oraz Tajpej na Tajwanie. Na ekspozycji prezentowane są również wielkoformatowe odbitki graficzne, których źródłem inspiracji jest pejzaż oraz historia Gdańska.
Wystawa jest rezultatem zdobytego przez Dominika Włodarka I miejsca w kategorii rysunek, grafika na III Triennale Sztuki Pomorskiej w Państwowej Galerii Sztuki w Sopocie w roku 2019.
Prezentowane na wystawie prace z cyklu „Aero Intaglio” zostały zrealizowane dzięki Stypendium Ministra Kultury i Dziedzictwa Narodowego w roku 2021.
Dominik Włodarek
(ur. 1976) w 2002 uzyskał tytuł magistra sztuki na Wydziale Edukacji Wizualnej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Łodzi im. Władysława Strzemińskiego. Od listopada 2007 do stycznia 2008 studiował w Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts w Paryżu. W 2010 uzyskał tytuł magistra sztuki na Wydziale Grafiki Fińskiej Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Helsinkach (Kuvataideakatemia).
Od listopada 2012 pracuje jako asystent dydaktyczny (od 2021 adiunkt) w Pracowni Wklęsłodruku na Wydziale Grafiki Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku. W 2018 uzyskał tytuł doktora sztuk pięknych. Jest członkiem Związku Polskich Artystów Plastyków (ZPAP), Związku Grafików Fińskich (STG), Stowarzyszenia Artystów Fińskich (STS), Stowarzyszenia Artystów Helsinkach (HTS).
Dominik Włodarek jest autorem 16 wystaw indywidualnych (8 w Polsce oraz 8 w Finlandii). Brał również udział w ponad 100 wystawach zbiorowych w Polsce, Finlandii, Chinach, Japonii, Wielkiej Brytanii, Niemczech, Holandii, Belgii, Portugalii, Chorwacji, Estonii, Turcji, Bułgarii, Rumunii, Serbii, oraz w Białorusi.
W 2019 roku Dominik Włodarek zdobył I nagrodę w kategorii rysunek, grafika na III Triennale Sztuki Pomorskiej w Państwowej Galerii Sztuki w Sopocie, jak również Nagrodę Rektora Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Gdańsku w 5. edycji Gdańskiego Biennale Sztuki w Gdańskiej Galerii Miejskiej oraz II Nagrodę Marszałka Województwa Pomorskiego w konkursie Pomorska Grafika Roku, organizowanym przez Gdańskie Towarzystwo Przyjaciół Sztuki. W 2020 roku otrzymał wyróżnienie – medal honorowy na XXVI Biennale Ekslibrisu Współczesnego w Muzeum Zamkowym w Malborku. W 2007 roku zdobył I nagrodę w fińskim konkursie artystycznym „Diners Club Taidetta Kaupungilla” („Sztuka w Mieście”) w Helsinkach.
Dominik Włodarek był stypendystą Rządu Fińskiego (CIMO 2004, 2005) oraz wielu fińskich organizacji wspierających twórczość artystyczną: Stypendium dla młodych artystów Finnish Art Society (2007); Stypendium Rady Artystów Regionu Uusimaa (The Arts Council of Uusimaa, 2007); Grant Artystyczny Państwowej Rady Sztuk Pięknych (State Fine Arts Comission) (2009); Stypendium Artystyczne Miasta Helsinki (City of Helsinki Artist Grant ) (2009); Stypendium Artystyczne Fundacji im. Alfreda Kordelina (Alfred Kordelin Foundation, 2010); Stypendium Artystyczne Fundacji Paulo (The Paulo Foundation, 2011); Stypendium Artystyczne Fińskiej Centralnej Rady Sztuki (TKT, 2012); Stypendium Artystyczne Finnish Cultural Foundation (SKR, 2013).

Dominik Włodarek Déjà Vu / Bon Voyage. Prints 2002-2022

The core of a solo exhibition is made up of reminiscences of space. These reminiscences, as Bogusław Deptuła emphasises, were “recorded by Dominik Włodarek, a graphic artist displaying great concentration and workmanship perfection. This is what distinguishes his large-sized prints, made with the use of intaglio and dry needle techniques. Refined and visionary, panoramic and detailed, they combine opposites and merge into a suggestive vision of 'shipbuilding’. It is in order to note the monumental and visionary size of the prints, which fill space, rivets the eye and seems perfect for display purposes. At the same time, the considerable size is evidence of the executive difficulty to be overcome during the creation process. Déjà Vu / Bon Voyage. Prints 2002-2022 is Dominik Włodarek’s retrospective, spanning his creative path from its very start up to the present. Apart from large-sized, nearly architectural prints that combine a number of techniques [e.g. carborundum, dry point, engraving], videos and a spatial object, there are intaglio landscapes that depict places where the author’s passion for the creation of artistic prints has taken him over the last twenty years.
The first graphic works on display were created in Łódź. The others were made in Helsinki, Finland, where the artist lived and worked for eight years. This is where his concept of creating large-format prints inspired by the urban landscape and the idea of site-specific art originated. Several works on display show the author’s interpretation of views of Paris, London and Taipei in Taiwan. The exhibition also includes large-sized prints inspired by the landscape and history of Gdańsk.
The exhibition is the follow-up of Dominik Włodarek winning in the Drawings and Prints category in the 3rd Pomeranian Art Triennale held in 2019 at the State Gallery of Art in Sopot.
The works presented in the exhibition from the Aero Intaglio series were created thanks to the Scholarship of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage in 2021.
Dominik Włodarek
(b. 1976) got an M.A. in 2002 from the Faculty of Visual Education of the Władysław Strzemiński Fine Arts Academy in Łódź. Between November 2007 and January 2008 he studied at the École Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. In 2010 he obtained an M.A. degree from the Department of Printmaking, Finnish Academy of Fine Arts in Helsinki (Kuvataideakatemia). Since November 2012 he was working as a teaching assistant (since 2021 as an assistant professor) in the Gravure Studio at the Faculty of Graphic Arts, Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk. In 2018 he was awarded a Ph.D. in Fine Arts. A member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP), the Association of Finnish Graphic Artists (STG), the Society of Finnish Artists (STS), and the Helsinki Society of Artists (HTS).
Dominik Włodarek has held 16 solo exhibitions (8 in Poland and 8 in Finland) and has participated in more than 100 collective shows in Poland, Finland, China, Japan, UK, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Croatia, Estonia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, and Belarus.
In 2019 Dominik Włodarek won the first prize in the 3rd Pomeranian Art Triennale held at the State Gallery of Art in Sopot (Drawings and Prints category). That very year he also received the Award of the Rector of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk in the 5th edition of the Gdańsk Art Biennale at the Gdańsk City Gallery and the 2nd Prize of the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship in the competition Pomeranian Graphics of the Year, organized by the Gdańsk Society of Friends of Art. In 2020 he was granted a medal of honour at the 26th Biennale of Contemporary Book Plates in the Castle Museum in Malbork. In 2007 he won First Prize in the Finnish art competition Diners Club Taidetta kaupungilla (Art in the City) in Helsinki.
Dominik Włodarek has been a scholarship holder of the Finnish Government [CIMO 2004, 2005] and of many Finnish organisations supporting the arts. He has received a scholarship for young artists of the Finnish Art Society [2007]; a scholarship of the Arts Council of Uusimaa [2007]; a grant from the State Fine Arts Commission [2009]; the City of Helsinki Artist Grant [2009]; scholarships from the Alfred Kordelin Foundation [2010] and the Paulo Foundation [2011]; an art grant from the Central Finnish Arts Council (TKT) [2012] and an art grant from the Finnish Cultural Foundation (SKR) [2013].
Dominik Włodarek’s works are housed in the State Art Deposit Collection of the Finnish Government and in the art collections of: Jyväskylä, Finland, Museum of Gdańsk, China Printmaking Museum in Shenzhen, China, Guanlan Original Print Base in Guanlan, China, Tama Art Institute Tokyo, Japan, Castle Museum in Malbork, Archaeology and History Museum Elbląg, and of the International Print Triennale in Krakow. His works can be moreover found in private collections in Poland and abroad.
